This fine herbal liqueur is based on a monk’s 400-year-old recipe. Over the centuries, discerning drinkers have experienced their “Aha moments”, with the joy of drinking this pure, satisfying beverage.

 

The handcrafted preparation of AHA EXCELSIOR HERBAL LIQUEUR is a matter of family pride and tradition. Each bottle bears the signature of the descendent of the founders and current Managing Director Michael Aha. In a 439-year-old distillery, reputed to be Europe’s oldest distillery in continuous operation, the work is done: Lengthy maceration and percolation of these herbs, followed by maturation in oak barrels, guarantee the highest quality. Only the purest wheat alcohol is used to perfect this liqueur.

TRUE HANDCRAFTING

This is not a mass-produced beverage. Our premium herbal liqueur, made from approximately 40 herbs, roots, spices, and fresh wild berries, is entirely handcrafted. We cut no corners to deliver the best.

It is prepared from two different extracts, and then macerated and distilled separately in traditional flasks. These two extracts are aged separately in oak barrels, and then blended together with the best quality alcohol. The resulting liqueur has an intensely aromatic flavor with notes of cinnamon, blueberry, and cherry. It is an authentic, time-tested beverage.

THE MACERATION

Once the maceration is finished, the liquid is decanted. The macerates are now infused with exquisite scents, giving the liqueur its special fragrance and taste. To further enhance its flavor, the macerate is distilled a second time in small batches.

THE RIPENING PROCESS

The macerate and distillate are now kept in oak barrels for the ripening process. Once this maturation process is complete, the liquid will be complemented with premium wheat alcohol to achieve its desired 38% alcohol level. We have now created Aha-Excelsior, our family’s noble beverage: Handcrafted with love and passion for centuries… and for today’s connoisseur!
